What is your purpose for existence? We believe God has a path in life for each one of us. In this path, God has given you an opportunity to live with joy in a relationship with Him both now and forever. This relationship and joy are found in Jesus. Psalm 16:11 says it like this, "You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand."
What stops us from having this relationship with God? Although God's desire is for us to have this relationship and joy, we have chosen to place our joy and desires on other objects besides Him (Romans 1:25, 3:23). This is what the Bible calls sin, and this sin both dishonors God and creates a barrier between God and us. Although we try to bridge that barrier to God with many things such as good deeds, religion, etc., they all come up short. Not only does this sin separate us from God, the penalty or wage for sin is death.
How can we have a relationship with God if we are separated from Him? God has made a way to Himself through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died, paid the penalty for sin and three days later rose from the dead. The fact that Jesus Christ was resurrected has changed all of history as well as all that the future holds. That is great news! Romans 5:8 puts it like this, "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Yea, that's good news, but now what? The Bible says to confess your sin and call on the Lord Jesus and you will experience this relationship with God, find joy in life like never before, and have hope for the rest of your life. Prayer God, I realize you have a purpose for my life. I now know it is to live for your fame and honor and not my own. I realize that I sin and make wrong choices that dishonor you and rob me of true, genuine joy. I believe you sent Jesus Christ to die for my sin and that He rose from the dead to give me new life. He is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to You, God, except through Jesus. Thank you God for sending Jesus. Please forgive me and change me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
